Assessment and Clinical Consultation

Rates vary (depending on how many sticky notes Mali sits on)
Some common reasons folks connect with me for this:

      • Gender-affirming care letters (for kids, teens, and adults—yes, I do all ages and I’m approved by the BC Children’s Hospital Gender Clinic)
      • Support letters for school, medical, or housing systems that don’t always get it
      • ADHD, autism, or mental health assessments (when you need more than a checklist)
      • Name/gender marker change documentation
      • Collaborative consultation with other providers
      • Complex stories that need space, curiosity, and thoughtful clinical eyes (and maybe a dog under the desk)

Working Together
🧺 What’s Included in a Session?

Every session is tailored to you – whether that’s you solo, your teen, your co-parent, or a whole family crew. Expect a mix of listening, laughter, strategy, and maybe a visual aid or two (especially for the neurospicy brains out there). In-person sessions come with tissues, comfy chairs, and a good chance Mali will gently supervise.

🐾 Mali sometimes contributes by snoring softly or flopping dramatically mid-session. It’s

E-transfer? Preferred. Cash? Easy. Cheque? No problem. Credit card? You bet. Don’t want to think about it every time? I can set up secure auto-pay—yes, even for your kid’s sessions. One less thing on your plate (and we both know it’s already full).

🐾 Mali once tried to pay with a stick. It was not accepted.

Let’s skip the middleman when we can.

I direct bill FNHA, Autism (ASD) Funding through MCFD, and Veterans Affairs (VAC)… which means fewer receipts, fewer headaches, and one less thing on your to-do list. If you’re not sure what’s covered, just ask. I’m happy to decode the fine print.

🐾 Mali once tried to direct bill her puppuccino tab. It… did not go through.

Yes, I can provide receipts that actually work.

You’ll get a properly formatted receipt for every session. Submit it to your insurance provider, or just save it for tax time as a medical expense (you’re welcome, future you).

Most benefit plans cover services from a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) or a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)—and I’m both, so you’re likely covered either way.

Tip: If you’re using workplace benefits, check the wording of your plan or call your provider to confirm coverage for RCSWs or RCCs.

🐾 Mali once submitted a claim for emotional support snacks. Denied, but she’s appealing.

Because therapy should be more accessible than a rollercoaster (and with no surprise drops).

I offer a limited number of reduced-fee spots for folks who qualify. There are a few criteria involved, nothing wild, just enough to help make sure these spots go to those who need them most.

If cost is getting in the way, reach out. No essays, no judgment – just a conversation.

🐾 Mali applied for a sliding scale spot citing “extreme cuteness” as financial hardship. It’s still under review.

Life happens—kids get sick, calendars explode, existential dread hits hard.

If you need to cancel, please give 48 hours’ notice. Short-notice or missed sessions are billed at the full rate (unless something truly wild happened—then let’s talk).

🐾 Mali once cancelled a session by sitting on the power button. Zero regrets.

Totally normal. Therapy – and admin – can feel like a maze, especially if you’re new to it. If you’re unsure about funding, coverage, or whether your kid is considered “under 19” because their birthday is next Tuesday, just reach out. There’s no such thing as a silly question here.

🐾 Mali once emailed a question that was just the letter “W.” We’re still unpacking it.
