REGISTERED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

Take everything about RSWs and add rocket boosters

🛠 Under construction — kind of like therapy: Messy in the middle, but totally worth it.

It all started from a university paper titled L.I.F.E.

Training

Master’s degree in Social Work, thousands of supervised clinical hours (3000 to be exact), and big scary clinical exams.

What they do

Counselling at a deeper level, plus specialized clinical therapy, mental health assessments, and reports. RCSWs are also one of the few professions in BC with the ability to diagnose.

Regulation

Also protected and regulated by the BC College of Social Workers. Same accountability, extra superpowers.

In your life, they're like...

The therapy Jedi: wiser, trained in the Force, and carrying a lightsaber made of compassion (and paperwork)

Fun Facts

There are only about 240 RCSWs in all of BC. That makes us rarer than a shiny Pokémon. If you find one, you’ve caught something special.

Think of a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) as a counsellor with an extra toolbox. Not only do we do the talk-therapy part, helping you sort through feelings, relationships, and life’s curveballs, we can also dive deeper with clinical therapy, mental health assessments, and formal reports when needed.

Did you know that there is only five professions in BC are allowed to diagnose using the DSM (that big book of mental health conditions). The lineup looks like this:

  • Medical Doctors
  • Psychiatrists
  • Psychologists
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • And yes… Registered Clinical Social Workers

So while most counsellors help you explore “what’s going on,” Registered CLINICAL Social Workers can also help put a name to it, create a clear plan, and bridge you to the right kind of care. It’s like having both a map and a guide when you’re navigating the messy, beautiful business of being human.

Therapy is one of those brave, meaningful decisions that can feel both exciting and intimidating. My goal is to make everything around it—like payments and logistics—simple, clear, and never the hardest part of your session. This way, you can focus on the important stuff – showing, being human, and maybe sharing the couch with Mali.
